AMETEK
Solidstate Controls (ASC) has been supplying battery chargers, inverters,
rectifiers, transformers, low voltage distribution panels and switchgear
to the nuclear power industry around the world for nearly 40 years.
Due to the critical nature of these applications, ASC has designed
most of this equipment for a 40-year design life. To insure that equipment
meets this requirement, each unit is subjected to environmental qualification,
aging analysis, and testing in accordance with applicable IEEE and
IEC standards.
In 1994, ASC made a strategic decision that even further exemplified
our commitment to this industry. Understanding that Nuclear Class
1E clients require an additional level of management and control
beyond that of other industrial clients, a new business unit was
formed, known as the Nuclear Engineering Team (NET). The NET has
dedicated itself to providing power and client service solutions
to the nuclear power industry. To that end, the NET has developed
client services that can be tailored to meet the specific requirements
of our nuclear clients, as well as the stringent requirements of
the industry. We maintain both a 10CFR50, Appendix B, (including
10CFR21) QA program, in addition to being ISO 9001 certified.
There are several ways in which the NET supports our nuclear
clients with client services:
- Consulting and Design Change Reports (DCRs):
- Direct replacement (form, fit and function) for obsolete
inverters, rectifiers/battery chargers, transformers, low
voltage distribution panels and switchgear (AC & DC), no longer
manufactured or supported by other manufacturers, such as:
Westinghouse, Elgar, Exide, Gould, C&D, PCP, Powertronics,
Cyberex, plus others
- Equivalency evaluation and reverse engineering of DC power
supplies (Basler and ITT North Electric)
- DC and AC standby (swing) 1E configurations
- Start-up, Preventive and Predictive Maintenance (PPM) and
Training:
- SCI staffs experienced service engineers and technicians
qualified under 10CFR50 criteria to provide around-the-clock
support
- SCI can help support maintenance rule criteria of 10CFR50.65
- PPMs, start-ups, and training classes can be scheduled around
scheduled outages, or as needed
- Equipment maintenance and parts support management:
- Site specific parts inventory and management
- Root cause analysis
- Obsolete parts replacement; automatic notification with
equivalency report
- Automatic response to Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)
"generic" and "informational" letters
- All services are customized to your specific site needs
